Getting Back into Amigurumi

 Amigurumi

Amigurumi(Ah-Me-Goo-Roo-Me) is the Japanese word meaning "making small animals or dolls". It's the technique of making stuffed animals out of yarn in the crochet sense. Sometimes, its the first thing that people learn how to make when they learn how to crochet. It can be simple because it is made up of one type of stitch, and many of them are pretty small, so they don't take too long of a time. Of course, there are ones that take forever, but many of them are small enough to tackle in a day.
Lately, I've been wanting to expand my skills in crochet and I realized that I don't do much with amigurumi, so I decided to try some patterns out. Technically, it was for the sake of teaching, but I made them anyways. Here, I have 2 amigurumi patterns that I tested and love.

Whale

For my first project, I looked up a pattern for a whale. I've seen them around on many market prep and crochet business channels, but I never tried them out. Teaching a new girl how to crochet gave me the perfect oppurtunity to try it out. Honestly, I don't think I would've tried it out if she hadn't asked.

The whale pattern was by far the best pattern of them all it looks so adorable and it’s very simple to teach. As it is just a circle basically. I made another in a greenish blue ombre yarn, and I have it set up at my shop.

Potato Cat

Although it looks like a potato, I did like the cat pattern I did like. The style of it is pretty cute, I think I am just not as adept in the embroidery. One moment, it looks like a cat, and the next moment, it looks like a bear, so whatever I guess.

This pattern was pretty easy to make, but I probably won't make it again unless I need a really quick cat-esque pattern. So if I decide to make more I will.
